Research suggests 85% of employers have discovered lies on candidates\u2019 resumes, and a 2017 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riskadvisory.com\/campaigns\/cv-lies-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Risk Advisory study<\/a> of 5,000 CV\u2019s found 80% contained discrepancies.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Risk Advisory says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riskadvisory.com\/campaigns\/cv-lies-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the most common fibs people are telling<\/a> are about how long they worked for a certain employer, their job title and duties, the reason they left a previous job and even exaggerations of their qualifications. In 2019, Ms. Veronica Theriault was sentenced to 25 months in jail following charges of deception, dishonestly dealing with documents and abuse of public office. <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.unsw.edu.au\/news\/business-law\/cv-fraud-crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNSW reported<\/a> she had lied on her CV about her professional experience and qualifications in order to obtain her position as Chief Information Officer for the Department of Premier and Cabinet (South Australia). She also provided false references according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2019-12-03\/veronica-theriault-gets-12-months-jail-for-lying-to-get-job\/11761316\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ABC News<\/a>, even acting as her own referee to achieve the $270K-per-year role.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So is it worth the risk?
