We enjoy learning how the movie was made, how the magic trick was done. It stands to reason, then, that when hiring, employers want to verify an applicant\u2019s suitability for the role before spending the time, energy and money onboarding them.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Pre-employment <a href=\"https:\/\/vetting.com\/en-au\/checks\/reference-checks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reference checks<\/a> enable businesses to make informed hiring choices by providing insight into applicants\u2019 modus operandi. Beyond finding a cultural fit, reference checks can protect a company from theft, fraud or reputational risk. A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/press.roberthalf.com\/2019-03-12-Survey-1-In-3-Job-Candidates-Removed-From-Consideration-Following-Reference-Checks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Accountemps survey<\/a> revealed that after speaking with referees, senior managers cull 34% of candidates. A referee gives a real-world window into what the applicant is like to work with.
