Candidate Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of VETTING.com services by candidates ("you", "your") who request background checks and employment screening services ("Services"). By submitting your information or using our Services, you agree to comply with these Terms.

2. Purpose of Services

VETTING.com offers background checks and employment screening services on behalf of employers, organizations, and third parties ("Clients") who require such checks for employment, citizenship, or other approved purposes. VETTING.com also provides candidate initiated services. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and truthful information to VETTING.com for the purpose of conducting all checks.

3. Personal Information Collection and Use

VETTING.com will collect and use your personal information for the sole purpose of performing the background checks as requested by you or on your behalf. The types of information we may collect include:

4. Consent to Background Checks

By using VETTING.com's services, you give consent for us to conduct background checks, including police checks, credit history, employment history, and criminal conviction, and open source checks as required by the Client or as applicable under the lawful basis or personally requested. Your consent is required for each check performed.

Once the background check is completed, the results will be provided to the Client (employer or other authorised party) that requested the check. You may request a copy of your report; however, please note that the primary recipient of the background check results is the requesting Client. Where a candidate has requested screening checks they will receive the results by way of a PDF.

7. Disputing Search Results

If you and/or the Client disagree with, and wish to dispute, any Agency Check, please complete and send this notice to us at support@vetting.com.

For disputes pertaining to results from Disclosure Authorities such as the DBS, Access NI, and Disclosure Scotland, please note that any such disputes must be raised directly with the Organisations in question. Please find the relevant links below. Please note that each Organisation requires a dispute to be submitted within 3 months of the certificate (results) being raised. For all International Criminal History Check disputes please email support@vetting.com.

8. Confidentiality and Data Protection

VETTING.com is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information. We will not share your personal data with unauthorised third parties. However, we may disclose personal data to our Clients, legal authorities, or other third parties if required by law or as part of the background check process.

Certain checks involve the disclosure of personal data in order to process the relevant checks – where this is relevant specific consents will be requested. All Data is subject to regulation by GDPR and Data Protection Legislation accordingly.

9. Limitation of Liability

VETTING.com provides background check services based on the information provided by third parties and available public records. We cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information obtained. You agree that VETTING.com is not liable for any consequences arising from inaccuracies or delays in the background check results, except as required by law.

10. Data Retention

VETTING.com retains your personal data for a period consistent with legal and contractual obligations. Clients can apply their own data retention policies, but there are stipulations by certain Organisations where specific parameters are set.

In the UK, the DBS require evidence of ID verification to be retained for 90 days, and confirmation of check completion for 2 years. For all other Disclosure Authority related retention policies please visit the requisite websites for information.

You have the right to request for your personal data to be removed, save for examples such as above where there are legal directions.

11. Disclaimers

VETTING.com does not make any representations or warranties about the outcome of the background check process, nor does it guarantee that you will be approved or accepted for any employment, position, or other opportunity based on the results of the background check. Where there are legal stipulations regarding employment, such as the rehabilitation of offenders act in the UK, VETTING.com are not responsible for Client application of such legal stipulations.

12. Changes to Terms and Conditions

VETTING.com reserves the right to update or change these Terms at any time. Any changes will be communicated on this website, and your continued use of the Services will signify your acceptance of the updated Terms.
