Top ConnectID Verification FAQ

What is ConnectID and how does it work?

ConnectID is a new, secure way to verify your identity, using an organisation your candidates already trust. Here's an example of how it works;

  • When you choose to use ConnectID, your candidate will then be asked to select their preferred 'Identity Provider' for example, their bank.
  • They'll then be redirected to their Identity Provider platform to authenticate themselves
  • Once authenticated, they will need to review the information being requested and give their consent to share.
  • Once their verification is complete, they'll be redirected back to VETTING.com

With ConnectID it's important to remember: ConnectID manages the network, but never sees or stores the personal information at any time

What is ConnectID and how does it work?

ConnectID puts the applicant in control of when and where their data is used and shared. It makes sharing data easy and secure, removing the need to type their details into a form, or providing more of their data than they need to

  1. They can also access a record of who they have shared their data with
  2. ConnectID will be enabled through participating organisations that they already trust. Once ConnectID is enabled with their preferred organisation, there is no need to sign up or download another app to use it
  3. ConnectID does not see or store their personal information at any time.
Is ConnectID safe
  • With ConnectID your candidates are in control of what data is shared and when. They only ever share information at their discretion
  • If they choose to use ConnectID, they will be asked to authenticate with their trusted Identity Provider before any data is shared so they know it really is VETTING.com and not someone pretending to be us. They then get to review the data to be shared before giving consent.
  • ConnectID enables the secure transfer of data between Identity Providers and VETTING.com
  • ConnectID manages the network, but never sees or stores the personal information at any time.
  • ConnectID is accredited by the Australian Government's Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF) and built to the standards set by the Australian Government.

Further ConnectID Identity Verification FAQ

Hopefully we can answer all of your ConnectID Verification questions below, but if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Who provides the identity details?

Each time someone uses ConnectID, they choose which trusted organisation they will use as their Identity Provider e.g. your bank. You need to have an existing relationship with them, and they need to be available in the ConnectID network.

Where is the candidate's information stored?

The candidate's identity is stored with the Identity Provider(s) who they already have a relationship with, such as their bank. When they choose to share data with VETTING.com the data they give consent to be shared will then also be stored by us under the terms of our privacy policy and the Privacy Act.

By using a trusted Identity Provider, they are reducing the need to share sensitive documents such as a driver license or passport in order to prove their identity.

ConnectID does not see or store any personal information at any time. It's just the bridge that connects their data to VETTING.com

Which Identity Providers are live with ConnectID?

ConnectID is live with their first Identity Providers NAB, CBA and ANZ Plus. For other candidates their identity can be verified via our standard IDV process.
